PMA RETREAT PROGRAM

PMA strives to engage students with our deep connection to God through a set time designed to connect them to their sense of pride, virtue and purpose. We believe that the spiritual life is foundational in the culture of the school and a cornerstone of a Catholic education.

At St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy, grade level has two mandatory retreats, one per semester, and it gives each soul, no matter the age, a time to pause and ask the pertinent questions about our lives and to find some answers that can help us begin again.

All Seniors attend KAIROS, information can be located on the KAIROS link to the right of the page.

FALL 2019 RETREAT PROGRAM

FRESHMAN FALL RETREAT - AUG. 30, 2019
Theme: In Reverse (Part 1 of 2)

The Lord’s Prayer is one of the greatest gifts we were given by Christ. It is the perfect prayer. Our entire lives could be spent meditating on it and we would still not scratch the surface of its divine depths.

A more intentional and prayerful approach to the Lord’s Prayer for your teens will pave the way to a far more intimate and robust prayer life in their college and adult years.

This retreat gets back to some of the basics of the Christian life:

  • God’s love and mercy
  • Our need to rely more on God and to trust Him
  • His desire for our lives
  • Our struggles living for Him
  • His desire for intimacy with us

IN REVERSE
JUNIOR FALL RETREAT - SEPT. 30, 2019
Theme: Epic

We are created for greatness yet it is difficult to see how faith translates into a self-seeking world. What does faith look like in the real world. Authentic faith can unleash the power within us, through the Holy Spirit we are like superheroes - making a difference but in the most simple ways. Faith is not unleashed powerfully unless we are merciful and receive mercy. It is this one struggle that leaves us with burden - What does it mean to Let Go and Let God?  In addition we learn our love language on this retreat to understand how to better communicate and receive love so that our dedication and service to faith may be fruitful.

Epic
SOPHOMORE FALL RETREAT - NOV. 8, 2019
Theme: Fulfilled (Part 1 of 2)

This retreat, Fulfilled, further empowers teens to make tough decisions and to ask difficult questions in the midst of their faith walks to Christ. The sessions were created to help the teens embrace reverence for the faith by unveiling the relevance in what we do at Mass, the Sacraments and in everyday Catholic life. Through pointed and simple talks, activities and analogies (with empty and full jars) they will encounter Church teachings with realistic explanations of what that means in their lives between Monday-Saturday. In addition, the retreat is created in a way that will help them more lovingly receive hard truths of the faith with a renewed sense of joy and humility.

JUNIOR SPRING OVERNIGHT RETREAT - FEB 27-28, 2020
Theme: Glory Revealed

The goal of this retreat is to help teenagers reflect on the face of Christ and deepen their personal relationship with him. This retreat tilts toward heavier prayer and contemplation and is great for teenagers that experienced an initial conversion and are ready for a deeper retreat. Teenagers are challenged to embrace various images of Christ and incorporate the emotions of Jesus into their prayer and reflection. By the end of the weekend, teenagers will have a greater appreciation for the humanity of Christ and the personal relationship they share with him.

Glory Revealed
SOPHOMORE SPRING RETREAT - MAY 22, 2020
Theme: Fulfilled (Part 2 of 2)

The theme of the retreat, one of “emptying” yourself, will allow God to “shake free all created things” so that all that remains is what is “uncreated” - God (Heb. 12:27-28).

Full Filled is designed to help strip away the worldly, prideful parts of our lives and teach us how to truly empty our- selves of all that is not of God. Only after we are emptied can God fill us. Only after we are empty will we more perfectly, more authentically, more humbly encounter Christ in the Word and the Sacraments.
