PMA RETREAT PROGRAM

Retreats offer the priceless gift for students and adults alike to sit in the quiet of the woods and listen for the whisper of God. It is a time away from the chaos and the busyness of life. It gives each soul, no matter the age, a time to pause and ask the pertinent questions about our lives and to find some answers that can help us begin again. At St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy, retreats are mandatory.  We believe that the spiritual life is foundational in the culture of the school and a cornerstone of a Catholic education.

KAIROS (Seniors)

  • Kairos 8: August 28-August 31, 2018
  • Kairos 9: February 26- March 1, 2019

Kairos is all about stepping into God’s time. The atmosphere on a Kairos retreat offers seniors the opportunity to be with God and to experience His presence through their community. Kairos is more than a retreat, it is a journey. Students get the chance to intimately reflect on their life and discern where God is calling them in the future. There are two Kairos retreats hosted for the senior class throughout the year. One retreat is hosted in the fall and one in the  spring. Since much of the Kairos experience is meant to be a surprise, you have to experience this retreat to fully understand how powerful it can be.

RESTORED  (Fall Freshman Retreat)   September 7, 2018

The goal of this retreat is to help youth experience the Paschal Mystery in their lives. The Paschal Mystery is about Christ’s death and Resurrection. Every time we experience suffering or darkness in our life, whether through our own sins, the sins of others, or simply because it is dark point in our life, we always have the opportunity to unite ourselves to Christ’s death and Resurrection. Whether it is a “little death” or a “big death” we experience, that death leads to resurrection when it is united to Christ. In short, Christ restores us to life through His death and Resurrection and we experience this restoration through every suffering that is united to Christ.

This retreat will also show the teens that conversion is a process instead of a single event. Finally this retreat will empower the teens to become an unstoppable force of God’s grace in their world.

THRIVE (Spring Junior Service Retreat) April 5, 2019

The goal of this retreat is to help Juniors take a greater ownership in their faith as they head toward high school graduation. Using Colossians 2:7 and Pope Benedict’s World Youth Day message as the basis, this retreat will challenge the participants to look at the roots of their faith, what it is growing into and how it will thrive through the storms that inevitably come. The retreat also seeks to remind the upperclassmen of the importance of the Sacraments and active participation in the life of the Church in order to truly thrive in the years to come. They will have 2 hours to put their faith into action through a service project.
