Dear PMA Students and Families,

Thank you for visiting my webpage. It is a privilege to support the students of St. Pius X – St. Matthias Academy again this year. I have been serving in Catholic schools for over 25 years, and I firmly believe PMA is one of the finest Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I look forward to supporting students in achieving their academic goals and in discovering that a life well lived can be synonymous with a Catholic life well lived.

Philosophy of Education
My professional and life experiences have taught me that all students can learn, provided I do my best to inspire them, and provided they are motivated, focused, supported, and participate fully in their own learning. As a teacher, my role is to find instructional practices that are effective for each individual student. As a former Catholic school student myself, I experienced firsthand the remarkable opportunities for faith formation and academic preparation Catholic schools provide. My childhood in an urban setting was changed profoundly by my experience as a student in Catholic schools.

My ministry has provided over 25 years' experience as a high school teacher, elementary school administrator, high school administrator, and college instructor.  My goal is to use my own experience as a former Catholic school student and Catholic school teacher to provide outstanding educational and
faith-formation opportunities to my students.

Education and Experience
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Urban Secondary Education from New Jersey City University. After relocating from the Garden State to the Golden State, I earned a Master of Arts degree in Catholic School Administration from Loyola Marymount University. I have served students as a Catholic high school administrator, high school teacher of English, and college professor of English.

When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my two grown daughters, writing, hiking, snorkeling, dancing, and gardening.  I am passionate about the uplifting value of music in one's life, especially R & B music. I am the Reverend Al Green’s biggest fan!
