PRACTICE EMPATHY | CULTIVATE COMMUNITY | CREATE TRUTHFULLY

The Arts Collective at PMA aims to enrich students intellectually, emotionally, and culturally through exposure to and participation in visual and performance-based arts. This engagement in the creative process helps develop self-esteem, creativity, and personal & academic excellence, fostering an enriched learning experience. Students understand, however, that The Collective is more than a department and set of required courses - for many students it is a way of life. Through a comprehensive arts program, students will acquire an appreciation for the creative arts and media. Arts staff are present and eager to support, guide and mentor students as they prepare to enter the next stage of their education and careers. Over the course of 4 years, students will take ownership of their arts experience through classes, exhibitions, and performances, as they practice empathy, cultivate community and create truthfully.

While what goes on in the classroom is extremely important, The Arts Collective also offers co-curricular activities, within each discipline. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to participate in professional-level experiences, collaborating with peers & staff, while taking ownership of their own artistry. The arts staff brings their professional expertise to each student-artist, working as creative equals to produce engaging, challenging, and honest works.
