The Onward 2 High School (O2HS) program, an initiative of the John H. and Cynthia Lee Smet Foundation, is a bridge program that prepares middle school students for high school, college, and beyond. During the school year, the O2HS program supports student success by providing a director to teach an Honors Algebra I course across partner Catholic elementary/middle schools. During the summer months, the Director of the O2HS program launches a Summer Institute program for rising 7th and 8th grade students with a target GPA of 3.0 at its partner host high schools: Bishop Mora Salesian High School, Cathedral High School, Sacred Heart High School, St. Anthony High School, St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy, and St. Mary’s Academy.
During the school year, O2HS director Vanessa Yanez teaches Algebra 1 Honors at St. Helen School and St. Odilia School to accelerate academic achievement. At St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy, Director Yanez provides academic support to students by providing tutoring for Precalculus and Geometry students every Monday (except holidays) after school, supporting STAR data intervention, and instructional support in various math classrooms.

Onward 2 High School's Summer Institute, hosted at St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy, is a three-week, STEAM-based program where rising 7th-grade and 8th-grade students will continue to expand their learning while making new friendships through engaging and collaborative lessons, field trips, learning from guest speakers, and hands-on fun projects!
