Patricia L. Rausch Memorial Scholarship

A life lived for Jesus...

This scholarship honors the life of Miss Patricia Louise Rausch (11/9/1936 - 3/29/22), an Honorary Warrior.

Although Patricia Rausch, or simply Miss Rausch as she was known to her students, was raised here in Downey, when it was time for her to go to high school, Pius X had not yet been built. She was the second oldest of eleven, and luckily the school was completed in time for seven of her siblings to come through Pius X High School.

Miss Rausch taught 7th and 8th grade at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School in Paramount for 51 years. During those years she was a teacher to over 2,500 students and for many would remain a mentor throughout their lives.

She fully lived and believed in the value of Catholic education and pushed every student, no matter their background, to draw close to their faith and to pursue their dreams through continued education.

On March 29, 2022 Miss Rausch was called to her next vocation as a saint in heaven.

Miss Rausch’s dedication affected so many during her lifetime, and today we remember her legacy and are proud to announce that she will continue to impact current students’ lives now and for years to come!

In August, the Rausch family donated $100,000 from Miss Rausch’s estate to establish the Patricia L. Rausch Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded for the first time in June of 2023 to two incoming PMA freshmen, upon graduation from Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School. This very special scholarship will continue on for many years thanks to the generosity of a remarkable lady and her wonderful family.
